Hot Havana Nights Welcome Party {Real Wedding}

Real Wedding, Wedding Weekend, Welcome Party Ideas

A festive Havana Nights Welcome Party complete with colorful blooms, bold linens, Welcome Mojitos and Margaritas, a cuban cigar roller, a latin-inspired trio and a delicious cuban-themed menu, this party was a delight for the senses and the perfect way to kick-off the Wedding Weekend.

Nothing welcomes guests to the a destination wedding weekend in Key West like an authentic Havana Nights Welcome Party! The Sunset Pier at Ocean Key Resort was the perfect location to host the welcome party for Kelly & Oliver. Guests were welcomed with a beautiful view of the water and custom koozies as cold island-inspired signature drinks of spicy margaritas and mojitos were butler passed, a nod to the Cuban theme of the evening.  Before dinner, everyone noshed on delicious & fresh Key West inspired appetizers including grilled shrimp, conch salad and a made-to-order guacamole station, reflecting the fresh catch feeling of the local food and boy was it fresh!  Guests were then served a traditional Cuban meal complete with roast pork, rice, black beans and sweet plantains.

We loved working on the design of  this event with the client.  All of the green and white with pops of pink, yellow, coral and orange to complement the latin vibe, along with printed cocktail table linens, custom hand painted signs from Do Tell Stationery & Designs and lots of gorgeous flowers from Antiqua Floral & Styling was the perfect mix against the gorgeous blue-green waters that surrounded the pier.  It was a fun departure from the classic, romantic feel of Kelly & Oliver’s Wedding the following day, but more to come on that later.  In addition to enjoying refreshing drinks and island-inspired food, guests also enjoyed dancing the night away to a mix of island and Latin-inspired beats provided by Rusty Lemmon & DJ Buggy.  They also all dressed the part as well, wearing  bright, tropical decor.  For those wanting to take in the true essence of the Cuban-themed evening, they were treated to a hand-rolled Cuban cigar bar from Rodriguez Cigars complete with a cigar roller and delicious after dinner aperitifs of Cuban Rum, once again complimenting the overall theme of the evening.  What a great way to get the wedding weekend started!
