Happy Anniversary, Real Wedding

It’s hard to believe that a year has come and gone so quickly since Kelly & Matt’s beautiful, Nautical Chic wedding in Marathon. We always say that all of our weddings are our favorite, but this one is truly a top favorite!

We started working with Kelly and Matt and her mom, Joanne, about 16 months before their big day and we had the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of the planning process…from design and decor to invitations and entertainment and everything in between, including a few special surprises a long the way. Kelly and Matt wanted a clean, nautical feel for their wedding and it was our job to help figure out how to carry that throughout the entire wedding weekend. Throw in that they were getting married a few days before St. Patrick’s Day (and the fact that the bride’s family is Irish) and you have a navy, green and white nautical celebration that can’t be beat!

The weekend kicked off with welcome bags being delivered to guests checking in at Hawks Cay (the Reception venue) with all of the things to get them through the weekend-long celebration…snacks, anchor cookies, beach towels, sunblock, drink koozies…you name it and it was in there.

Once guests arrived, they were invited to the Kelly’s parent’s home in Marathon for a McTiki Party with an island twist. Great Events provided the food and Twist of Fate Imagery was there to capture the good times.

On Friday, everyone lounged around the resort while getting ready for the Wedding Rehearsal and Welcome Dinner, which was held at Lazy Days South. Everyone was instructed to wear green, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and guests were greeted with cold drinks, delicious food and the musical stylings of Brian Roberts.

On Saturday, Kelly and her bridesmaids enjoyed some morning pampering from the Glam Squad and ladies of Beauty Boutique; while Matt and his guys spent the morning relaxing and enjoying the views at Hawks Cay.

For the main celebration, guests arrived at San Pablo Catholic Church , while Kelly and her parents arrived via vintage Rolls Royce. The ceremony was beautiful and following the Mass, guests poured out to the courtyard where they were greeted by the sounds of an authentic Irish bagpiper.

Following the ceremony, everyone returned to Hawks Cay for Cocktail Hour on the Dolphin Deck and the sounds of Cedrick Luces on the steel drums. While mingling and grabbing delicious food and drinks, guests got to watch the dolphins frolic in the ocean while watching the sun go down (and the bride and groom sneak a few kisses).

After cocktails, guests were ushered into the main ballroom, which had been transformed in a beautiful white room with lots up lighting, candles, bling, gorgeous flowers and an anchor ice luge! The centerpiece of the room was the large “X” table that served as the head table for the wedding party, along with the stage and white dance floor, which was crowded all night thanks to the Headliners, who kept everyone dancing until the wee hours of the night!

The wedding ended with one final surprise…a fireworks show overlooking the water! After the fireworks, everyone returned to the ballroom for some more dancing, including Kelly and Matt who got up on stage and danced with the band!

We are so happy to have Kelly and Matt (and their families) as part of our Just Save The Date Family and we wish them many more years of happiness! We love you to the moon and back!
